WOCRA WE SHOULD KNOW EACH OTHER™
Our focus on networking stems from an urgent need to address the deep-rooted challenges women of color face in the workplace.
Only 19% report feeling happy or satisfied with their careers, contrasting with 30% of white women. This gap reflects systemic isolation, lack of respect, and underrepresentation in positions of influence. Notably, 1:5 of women of color strongly agree they feel seen at work.
These challenges affect emotional well-being, career growth, and satisfaction. The data reveals that 65% of women of color desire mentorship or advisory relationships but lack access, which is crucial for overcoming professional barriers. Additionally, 67% of women feel isolated at work, particularly those at senior levels. For women of color, who are severely underrepresented at senior levels, this isolation is compounded by cultural and structural biases, leading to disengagement and, too frequently, career stagnation.
Recognizing the profound effects of these challenges, we created WOCRA's We Should Know Each Other™ networking series. These signature events embody purposeful networking, where the goal is more than exchanging business cards; it's about forging bonds that empower, mentor, and uplift. This series acknowledges that, as women of color advance in their careers, their support networks often thin out, making the journey lonelier and less sustainable. By creating an intentional space for connection, WOCRA seeks to bridge these gaps and foster a sense of community that resonates with shared experiences and collective growth.
